In the Spotlight: Food 4 Farmers

Look at it, it's August already. Before you know it, we'll be waist deep in Fall. After that, the holidays, and a brand new year. That's the time when we tally up all the Food 4 Farmers donations for the year.  This month we're putting a spotlight on Food 4 Farmers (F4F) and the fine work they've been doing with this digital round up! To kick things off, we've even  got a special offer for you. (See details below)

An organization to whom we are proud to be associated, Food 4 Farmers is dedicated to helping coffee producing families in Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua learn the skills needed to secure enough food throughout the year to sustain their families, not just at coffee harvest time. We're talking quite literally feast or famine. But they don't just help them "sustain their families;" they give them the tools they need to flourish. We have been so impressed with their successes that we concentrate the vast majority of our annual donation efforts toward them. If you're unfamiliar with our donation program, we add up all the donations to F4F collected throughout the year, and match them dollar for dollar. The last few years has seen some pretty surprising totals!

The folks over at F4F had this to say in their most recent newsletter:

In 2020, our food security programs created a lifeline for the families and schools who are now growing their own food, and for everyone in their communities whose access to food was cut off by disruptions in supply chains. Coffee-farming families fed their neighbors and communities, & donated fresh fruits and vegetables from their gardens to those in need. That generosity in action is at the heart of our work.

Most families we serve live on income far below the Global Poverty Line of $1.90 per person per day - even with fair trade and other premiums they earn from their coffee crop. Yet they tell us they feel rich, because they control their food supply, and have a choice in what they eat. And they're sharing this wealth with others.
