Obsidian Blend is BACK!

A few months back, we tested the waters with a blend we'd never offered before. You guys liked it so much we couldn't keep it in stock! After exploring the world of Robusta coffees, we came up with a pretty spectacular blend. Looking for a coffee with that extra caffeine kick? Try Obsidian Blend.

Most coffee available on the Western market are Arabica beans. These coffee plants are particular about their environmental needs. They prefer high altitude and plenty of rain, but not too much. They enjoy a shaded canopy, but again, not too much. However much extra love and care these plants need, it sure is worth the effort. Arabica yields some of the most interesting and diverse notes, tones, and nuances ever captured in a cup.

Alternatively, Robusta isn't all that picky about environmental needs. Just as its name suggests, it is a robust plant. It grows well at lower elevations and doesn't require much pampering. The result is a coffee boasting higher fat content, lower acidity, and higher caffeine yield. The taste isn't often appreciated by Western palates, however. (This is why we've not carried it in the past.) Although, if you were to blend the Robusta with some tried-and-true Arabica-- Oh, man! Hold onto your socks.
This blend of smoky Vienna roast coffee and Robusta has a quite a bit of a caffeine kick! With its thick, rich mouthfeel, it makes an amazing espresso shot, creating a dense, luxurious crema. More of a brewed coffee drinker? It makes a fantastic dark brew too.
Smoky aroma, with notes of earthiness and dark chocolate, our new Obsidian Blend is surprisingly low in acidity. Get 'em while you can; supplies may not last long!
