Ethiopia Arichi LTD

Posted by MHawn on 5th Nov 2021

We have a brand new Ethiopia LTD for you this November! Ethiopia, widely considered the birthplace of coffee, is just teaming with unique, indigenous coffee varietals. It's not uncommon for us to offer several completely different coffees from Ethiopia at a time. "Can they really be that different though?" Yeah, they absolutely can! Here's the latest comparison.

In this corner, we have Ethiopia Yirgacheffe

One of our all-time best-sellers, hands down. Out of the Yirgacheffe district in Gedeo Zone, this ACR knockout is shade-grown around 1860 masl. Because this is a fully washed processed coffee, its vivid tones are highlighted by pops of  lemon peel and floral notes. Its light body and clean finish will leave you dazed. Who drank all that coffee so quickly?! Don't say we didn't warn you. It's a best-seller for a reason.

And the challenger, in this corner, Ethiopia Aricha LTD.

Also from the Yirgacheffe district, Aricha is grown between 1900-2100 masl, and is a fully washed processed coffee as well. It's this process that yields that characteristically clean finish, but the similarities end there. This offering comes at you with saucy flavor combos. Punches of vivid grapefruit and tart Granny Smith apple accentuate notes of sweet figs and dates.

With just about 2,000 years of cultivation, Ethiopia is just swimming in indigenous varietals. And much like wine, the taste of coffee is influenced by multiple variables along the process from farm to cup. With the benefit of so much variation, Ethiopia is a powerhouse in producing some of the most dynamic, engaging coffees the world has ever seen. Both Yirgacheffe and Aricha are stellar examples of just how diverse and absolutely delicious Ethiopian coffees can be.
